MUV or Multi Utility vehicle happens to be the most prime after the SUV segment. Moreover, there are plenty of options available in the MUV segment in India, but picking one it’s very difficult actually. Some of the vehicles feature great mileage efficiency but lacks power, some are great in interior functionality but not in outside design.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is available in K15B 1.5L Hybrid petrol engine, by which it is able to achieve a maximum power of 77kW@6000rpm with a torque output of 138Nm@4400rpm. Apart from its highlight in mileage which happens to 19.01kmpl (claimed), it features a TFT Multi-Information color display along with the Maruti’s Smart Play Studios system, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control, etc.

What’s Special: Most efficient MPV with the leading claimed fuel efficiency of 19.01kmpl. 

Hyundai Alcazar

Another MUV that happens to be from Hyundai motors is the recently launched Alcazar. It features a 1.5L diesel CRDI engine which is capable of producing 115PS@4000rpm with a torque output of 250Nm@1500-2750rpm and also a 2.0L MPi engine which produces a maximum power of 159PS@6500rpm with the torque output of 191Nm@4500rpm. The claimed efficiency happens to 20.4kmpl (MT). The major highlights include are the 10.25” digital instrument cluster, Bose premium sound system, Air purifier system with AQI display, etc.

Renault Triber

Triber happens to be the most affordable MUV available in the Indian automotive market. It features a petrol 1.0L VVT engine which is capable of producing 71bhp@6200rpm with a torque output of 96Nm@3500rpm. It features both Automatic and Manual modes of transmission with the claimed mileage of somewhere between 18-19kmpl. Some of the major highlights include are dual-tone interiors, digital instrument cluster, touchscreen MediaNav infotainment display, steering mounted controls, etc.

What’s special: 7 seating in a sub 4m wheelbase, 1.0L VVT engine, many seating options available.

Toyota Innova Crysta

The most reliable MUV right from the year 2005 in India and till now it is one of the best MUV available in the Indian Automotive market. It is powered by a DOHC 16 valve 2.4L diesel engine which also features an intercooler. The engine is capable to produce a power of 150PS@3400rpm with a variable torque output (according to variants) of 343-360Nm@1400-2800rpm. The transmission options are also available according to the selected variant and feature either a 6-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission system.

What’s special: Powerful 4 cylinder INLINE cylinder engine, luxurious features.

Kia Carnival

Carnival is one of the best luxurious and at the same time highly expensive MUV available in the Indian market. Kia Carnival is available in diesel engine option with an engine 2.2L CRDI which can produce 200PS@3800rpm with a torque output of 440Nm@1500-2750rpm. The transmission option which is available across all variants is the 8-speed automatic gearbox system. Some major highlights include are the automatic sliding doors, ventilated seats, captain premium leather seats, etc.

What’s Special: Luxurious interiors, powerful 2.2L CRDI engine.

The most special thing about all the mentioned MUVs is that they are sold more often than the others. Moreover, the car-makers of the MUVs have their service centers in most of the states as well which can be considered as another plus point for them.
