2021 was a great year for the car manufacturers but for some, it was the worse as their vehicles or few of their vehicles haven’t touched the expected sale figures. Those vehicles on my analysis can be discontinued in 2022. By the way, the blog on the Failures of 2021 is already been published to checkout click on the link below:
On the Point
Five cars that can be discontinued in 2022 are mentioned as under:
- Volkswagen Vento
Vento is the only sedan available from Volkswagen in India and for sure will be discontinued in 2022. It will be replaced by Virtus a new sedan by Volkswagen which is expected to launch in March 2022. The same case has also going to happen with the Skoda Rapid which will be replaced by Skoda Slavia.
- Renault Duster
At some time Renault Duster was the only successful vehicle from Renault India as well as it was a success in the segment. But after its facelift which has no updates except the relaced Engine option in which it is only powered by a petrol motor its sales have absolutely touched the grounds.
However, there’s no official statement from Renault India that will there be a new Duster in 2022 as Duster’s facelift version is selling across the world but Renault is not offering it in India which is really a huge disappointment, especially for the Duster fans.
- Kia Carnival
Kia Carnival is the most luxurious vehicle that is offered from Kia in India but it is really over-priced which makes it harder for the customers to even think about it. Moreover, its lowest variant doesn’t offer anything for safety which is another disappointment for the customers who are spending 32-35 lakhs even for the base variant.
- Citroen C5 Aircross
Citroen C5 Aircross is the first and a failed vehicle from Citroen in India. It is a compact size SUV but the major cause of its failure is its pricing as it starts from Rs 32 Lakhs (app.). This is also because it is imported in India which makes it suffer from import duties and various other taxes.
Citroen C3 which is set to launch in 2022 will be a completely Indian-made unit available from Citroen.
- Mahindra Marazzo
Mahindra’s Marazzo was made famous for its safety as it had scored 4 stars in the NCAP rating. And is one of the safest vehicles under the MPV segment. But its problem was its fuel economy which is actually less in Diesel as compared to its petrol variant.
Moreover, its design language had also played a role in the failure of this vehicle.
Well, all the vehicles listed above are expected to be discontinued in 2022 but no official statement has been made regarding them. Moreover, apart from these vehicles, there are other vehicles too which can also be discontinued especially from the Datsun car-maker.
