After its Hector which is a full-sized SUV, MG decided to launch its Gloster which is an oversized one. The Gloster initially launched somewhere around October 2020. The giant SUV packs all the features and all the comforts in its class rivaling the popular SUVs in the segment.
Technology and interiors
Starting with the dashboard, Gloster features a dual-tone dashboard with brown leather accents in between. The seats are also very premium with that same brown leather and for the driver’s side, it is 12 way electronically adjusted with the ventilation, heating, massage function on offer. While the co-driver side only gets a heating function on offer.
The infotainment system is a 12.3inch touchscreen unit that is also connected to the internet and features MG’s AI for voice commands. It also gets all connectives such as the Android Auto and Apple car play. Moreover, like the MG Astor, the infotainment system of the MG Gloster is connected to some of the well-known third-party apps such as Gaana, My Map India, etc to give you all the necessary connected car tech and MG calls it as iSmart 2.0. The audio system is paired with 12 speakers which are on offer at the top variant.
On to the driver’s side, the steering wheel feels very premium which is leather-wrapped and contains the controls for the audio system, controls for the instrument cluster, and also the adaptive cruise control system. The instrument cluster features an 8-inch panel that shows almost every piece of information about the vehicle.
The central console is wrapped up with many features such as the wireless charger, lots of storage spaces, electronic parking brake, controls for ventilated seats, and also various other buttons which include various drive modes, Downhill assist, traction control, stop/start system, self-park, differential lock, lane keeps assist.
Coming on to the rear, in the second row the seats happen to be the captain seats same as seen on the Kia Carnival and they are really comfortable with decent knee room, headroom. Also, the under-thigh support is very good along with the adjustable headrests.
On the third-row seats, the knee room is quite good along with the headroom. Moreover, the third-row seats also get a standard charging socket along with a USB charging socket as well. The third-row passengers also feature adjustable headrests and also the seat can be split in a 60:40 ratio. The sunroof to which MG calls the ‘Signature sunroof’ extends to the third-row seats to provide that airy feel to the third-row passengers as well.
The boot is of decent size and can be adjusted from 343L to 1350L. The boot lid is electronic of course and features a hands-free opening.
