Prototype Series#7; All about Kia Niro Crossover

Kia Niro has been unveiled a few days ago and this time there are huge improvements from its previous generations. Moreover, the improvement has also been done in the platform of the vehicle differentiating it from all other EV’s offered from Kia Motors. Before continuing, welcome to this next blog of the Prototype Series.

On the point

The new Kia Niro is available in mainly three powertrain options i.e., the Hybrid, Plug-in-Hybrid, and pure electric powertrains. The wheel drive will be reserved for the front wheel and Niro will most likely come with a 64kWh battery pack delivering a range of 454km.

Moreover, the plug-in-hybrid variant features a 1.6L petrol engine and the vehicle also has a capability to switch between the Battery and the Engine using the information from the navigation system.

With Exteriors

Like all other Kia prototypes the Kia Niro gets a new front look with Kia’s popular ‘Tiger Nose’ grille. Along with this the paint scheme this time is finished in dual tone color options across the vehicle. Moreover, Kia Niro also gets lots of aerodynamic elements across the car along with boomerang shaped rear lights which look kinda adopted from the Hyundai’s design language.

With Interiors

The main highlight in Interiors is the use of recycled material across the vehicle’s cabin as the door panels are coated with a special water type paint which is free of petrochemicals, the seat fibres have been made from eucalyptus leaves.

Some common features included in the interiors which is also an update from the previous generation’s Kia Niro is that this time it gets ambient moon lighting, coat hanger at the rear of the headrests, electronic gear shift dials etc.

Concluding with its India launch the Kia Niro’s 2nd generation can be available in India in pure electric powertrain option only. Moreover, Kia and Hyundai are both making it to launch their EV’s 6 in number (including this Kia Niro and Hyundai 7 concept) by the end of 2024, the blog link of which is given below.
