A month ago Maruti Suzuki had unveiled that the new Celerio is coming, moreover, the company also started to prebook the new Celerio for its early customers (Click here).
But today (10th November, 2021) Maruti Suzuki has finally launched its new Celerio 2021 and there are plenty of new features which have been added to it.
Maruti Suzuki has given the new Celerio 2021 a new motor named as K10C petrol engine which is a 998cc 3 cylinder BS6 engine, capable of producing 49kW@5500rpm of power along with the torque output of 86Nm@3500rpm. The engines are well mated with 5 speed manual as well as 5 speed automatic transmission option. Moreover, the new Celerio will be offered in CNG variant too in the upcoming months.
Apart from all this usual specifications about the engine the Maruti Suzuki Celerio gets three major highlights which are as under:
- Mileage: Celerio makes it to the number one car in India with the highest claimed fuel efficiency of 26kmpl for Automatic transmission and 25.24kmpl with the Manual transmission system.
- ISS (Idle Start-Stop) system: The engine also features another capability i.e. to automatically turn off the vehicle when it’s idle to save fuel consumption.
- Hill Hold assist: The new Celerio also gets Hill Hold assist capability which is one of the unique technologies offered by Maruti Suzuki especially in its hatchbacks.
Starting with its front, Celerio features a small grille on which a chrome lining strip runs on with the Suzuki logo. The headlamps are the standard one with a halogen bulb along with the indicator and fog lamps. The bumper below is quite wider this time as the overall vehicle is 55mm wider than its previous generation.
The side profile will remind you of the S-Presso which is very basic without body cladding, free of chrome along with the black alloy wheels.
The rear look is absolutely new and does not resemble any other Maruti Suzuki vehicle but kinda reminds you of the Renault Kwid. As of course the tail lights are halogens along with the indicator lamps and reverse parking light.
Interiors with Technology
The interiors are all black to which Maruti calls as the ‘Premium black interiors’, it will remind you of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. The dashboard is quite similar to other Maruti vehicles and features Maruti’s all-time favourite infotainment system (Smart Play Studio) which gets all connectivity integrated within it such as Apple Car play and android Auto connect.
Coming on to the Driver’s side the steering wheel’s main highlight is that it is an Urethane steering wheel, well I don’t know what it exactly means. But it is adjustable along with Driver’s seat which gets a height adjustment function. Moreover, the instrument cluster is all analog with the circular mini display, the same is also equipped in Maruti Suzuki’s WagonR.
The major change has been done in the central console in which the gear lever is all new and will remind you of the CVT gearbox systems. Coming to the rear seats, well it’s not clear what the rear seats are going to perform in the comfort levels but surely the new Celerio will get 1 litre bottle holders at the rear and the seats will feature 60:40 split
The boot space has also been enhanced and is now 313L in capacity which is 78L more than its previous generation. Apart from all this it gets automatically adjustable ORVM, rear defogger, 2 airbags with ABS etc.
The new Celerio is currently offered in 7 variants which are as under along with their pricing.
|LXi MT||Rs. 4.99 Lakhs|

Well, Maruti Suzuki Celerio is a mixture from all the hatchbacks segment of Maruti Suzuki with the interiors just like the Ignis, Instrument cluster like the WagonR etc. The minimum ex showroom price in which it is launched is 4.99 lakhs and will compete the Renault kwid, Hyundai Santro, Tata Punch etc.
