Recently, an update striked on my phone about the EV’s that will be launched by Hyundai and Kia Motors in around 2023. As we all know suddenly a wave of electric vehicles has been started which was created by Hyundai initially with its Kona electric. And now Tata is playing a major role in this wave because of its Nexon and Tigor EV.
Welcome to next blog of Let’s Talk Series.
On the Point
Starting from the first Kia and Hyundai is all set to launch about 6 EV’s in India around 2022-2025 aiming to replace all their vehicles with EV’s. The expected vehicles with their launch dates are listed below:
Hyundai Kona (Facelift): Kona’s facelift will be launched somewhere around 2022. Moreover, vehicle can be available in two trims i.e. SEL and Limited; the car can have an expected range of 415kms with 64kWh battery capacity producing a power output of 201HP. The car can also feature ADAS radar system as well.
Kia EV6 (CBU): With Hyundai Kona there are fair chances of the launch of Kia EV6 as well which will be available as CBU (Completely Built up) unit. The car will not be made in India as from the news coming now. This will make the car a bit expensive from the one’s which are made in India. Kia EV6 can give upto a range of 482kms depending upon the trim selected. Moreover, it will be able to charge itself for upto 337kms in just 18mins of charging using the 800V DC fast charger. The expected launch date is somewhere around 2022.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Hyundai can also launch its Ioniq 5 in India in around 2023. The vehicle will also be based on CBU unit like the Kia EV 6 which will increase its price effectively. Ioniq 5 will be packed up with 2 batteries one is with 72.6kW and other one is of 58kW. With the 72.6kW battery Ioniq 5 can make upto 111km in just 5 min of charging and with the 350kW charger it can charge itself from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. While the 58kW can make upto 88km in 5 minutes and under 350kW DC charger it can charge itself from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.
Kia Niro EV: Niro is an all time favorite global vehicle offered by Kia motors. It also has a hybrid version known as Niro hybrid. Well, back to the topic, Niro EV can come in India equipped with a 64kWh battery which makes it capable to produce a range of about 384kms. The electric motor can drive a power of 284HP.
Moreover, Kia and Hyundai will get there make in India cars from around 2024 which they aim to be. And more vehicles are there which could be launched by them in next 3-4 years, so stay tuned for next blog on this!
