Recently Renault had launched its brand new EV named Renault Megane. The car is based on the prototype of Renault Morphoz. Megane has almost all the features and capabilities one can ask for in CI engine vehicles from its large range to its top speed, Megane have all them in one without polluting the environment as well.
On the Point
*Engine and Spec’s
Recently launched Renault Megane features every capability an electric SUV had ever needed. Megane is offered in two electric motors Firstly, the 96 kW (130 hp) and 250 Nm and secondly, 160 kW (218 hp) and 300 Nm. With the later one Renault claims that the car can reach from 0-100km/h in just 7.4sec with a top speed of about 160km/h.
It also features two battery options with different ranges as:
- 40kWh with a range of 300km
- 60kWh with a range upto 470km
With the two battery options Renault also claims that Megane also features thinnest battery in the market. Its battery weighs around 395kg with the dimensions 40% smaller than the ZOE battery.
Talking about the recharging of the batteries, Megane features wider charging solutions it can be charged with domestic AC supply (10A/2.3kW single-phase)and also with the public charging stations (32A/22kW triple-phase). With the public charging AC supply Megane can recover a range upto 160km within an hour of charging.
Moreover, the main highlight in charging solution of Megane is its 130kW DC fast charging which enables Megane to make a range of about 300km in just 30mins.

Along with its batteries and motors Megane also features rich and advanced technologies one can ever think off in an EV. Well, it’s impossible to cover all of them in this Review Series, However some of headings are mentioned below:

Made with Recycled and Eco – Friendly material
Renault claims that the new Megane is built with recycled and eco friendly material (wherever possible). According to the manufacturer upholstery on the first trim is made from 100% recycled material. Moreover, the mid level trim that features TEP/fabric upholstery is also made from 100% recycled material.
The same concept was also shown in the 2019 Renault Morphoz concept.
With time there are new advancements in technologies, we don’t will this car be available for India but if it does then that time will bring a next level competition among the EV’s.
