Recently, Maruti Suzuki Baleno rebadged as Toyota Glanza in around 2020, but what Maruti has taken in exchange of its Baleno? Yep, you guessed it right it’s the Corolla Altis. Welcome to next Let’s Talk series #3, today, we’re gonna talk about the new Maruti Suzuki Corolla Altis the spec’s, the features etc it will be available in.
Maruti holds a great share in Indian market, the major share is because of its hatchbacks and just a little due to its mid size sedans such as Ciaz, Dzire. But talking about premium sedans segment Maruti doesn’t offers anything in India and it’s not like that Maruti Suzuki haven’t tried to enter Premium sedan market on its own, MS had entered the premium sedan segment with its Kizashi but due to its high pricing it discontinued.
Now, Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to attract Indian Premium sedan owner is with Corolla Altis. This will be just an entry level sedan which means further more Maruti Suzuki will develop its own premium sedans once it entered this segment.
On the Point
Maruti Suzuki’s sedan Corolla Altis is expected to launch with same dimensions as of Toyota’s Corolla Altis in 2022. The 2022 model of Altis features a gasoline and a hybrid variant with around 1.8L 4 cylinder VVTi engine, but talking Suzuki’s Corolla Altis it is expected to feature a 1.5L DDiS unit, 1.3l VVT unit or a 1.3L K15B hybrid unit. There is an expectation that the sedan would be available in two only gasoline engine options and one hybrid engine options.
The car will be equipped with same Maruti Suzuki’s branding and other features such as Maruti Suzuki connect and will be available in Suzuki’s premium showroom NEXA.
Is it really good for Indian customers?
There is no doubt that Maruti Suzuki’s membered customers will be much attracted by this sedan and also for some other Ciaz owners too. The hype will not be like that this is Maruti Suzuki’s Corolla Altis but it would attract the customers due to its pricing too. There is some expectation that the car will be launched with lower pricing as compared to original Toyota’s Corolla Altis. However there is no news about the new Corolla’s name under the badging of Maruti Suzuki.
